Emphatic particle which was always initial in an utterance, 'ngatha kinya tyurpa!' 'Goodness, it is absolutely pouring!' 'orngatha-kat yathaminyuk kinya payingguk' 'my word, this is a naughty child!' The exclamation 'ngatha' was regarded as unconnected with the word ngatha 'mythical creature'.
