Possum Rug
Part of speech:
(N)
Sources:
Notes:
Wembawemba people sewed possum skins with kangaroo sinew and made 'a really lovely edging by imprinting with white mussel shells' (N.E.). (Editor - The English to WembaWemba version of the dictionary lists 'walən' as an alternative word. This seems a little unlikely as this is also listed as the word for 'soft crayfish'.)

Pronunciation Guide:
Say: marty-əm
Pronunciation Notes:
Vowels: Standard - 'a' as in ‘path’, ‘u’ as in ‘put’, 'ə' neutral sound as in ‘the’.
Consonant  - 'ty' (palatal stop) - combine 't' and 'y' while tip and blade of tongue touches hard palate and stops the breath. (Note: 'tch' is close but different to 'ty'.)  (Avoid the English 'tee' as in 'city'.)
