Additional notes:
This reference document is based on Hercus's pronunciation summaries in the Green Book 'WembaWemba Dictionary' and her thesis. Any language is a living language and will variations and changes. One of the challenges is writing how to pronounce a traditionally oral language with the words and sounds of a different language (English). The late Dr. Luise Hercus developed an orthography, a way writing down the language. This document uses that same orthography.
Suggestions (Teacher's Notes):
Use the Dictionary Word Search to look up examples of WW words with standard vowel sounds and with variation sounds. Look in Learning Lists for words with standard sounds. Create your own Learning List or words with one of the sounds. Write raps or poems with an emphasis on specific vowel and consonant sounds.
